The FAFSA form is now available online! Remember, this form MUST BE COMPLETED for ANY grants or scholorships to be awarded. You must have your 2009 tax retunrs completed, not filed, to complete this application. The website www.fafsa.ed.gov. If your child already has been accepted to a college or university, make sure that he or she accesses his or her personal website often. If any scholorships are awarded, he or she must accept or decline the money. Inaction results ineligibility. When your child does recieve scholorships, please forward a copy to the guidance office so that we may publicize these.

 
 
Prudential Spirit of Community Award:  If you've made a difference by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1000 and a fabulous trip to Washington, D.C. next May.

CERRA:  If you plan to become a teacher, you can receive up to $6,000 annually in scholarship money while completing a degree to teach.  You must attend one of the 11 Teaching Fellows Institutions:  Anderson University, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Furman University, Lander University, Newberry College, SC State University, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, and Winthrop.

PALMETTO FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility & Alternative Eligibility:
  • 1200 SAT/27 ACT (June test administration)
  • Top 6% (sophomore, junior or senior)
  • 3.5 GPA UGP: OR
  • 1400 SAT/32 ACT and 4.0 GPA in senior year

Award Amount & Info:

  • Attend 4-year SC institution immediately after high school (fall semester)
  • Up to $6,000 freshman
  • Up to $7,500 sophomore, junior and senior

LIFE SCHOLARSHIP

Initial Eligibility at 2-year Institution:

  • 3.0 GPA UGP

Initial Eligibility at 4-year Institution:

  • 3.0 GPA UGP; and
  • 1100 SAT/24 ACT OR top 30% or class

Life Scholarship Information

  • No application process
  • Must be a South Carolina Resident at the time of high school graduation and initial enrollment

Committment to Agriculture Scholarship

One-hundred $1500 scholarships awarded to students who have immediate family engaged in production agriculture

The Crib to College Scholarship

A scholarship for high school seniors ~ 3 winners recieve a laptop computer and $1000 for the college they will attend. Winners selected based upon community involvement activities and answer to essay question.

Robert C. Byrd $tonors Scholarship

$1500 renewable scholarship ~ Deadline February

  • Must have a combined SAT score of 1300 / 29 ACT
  • 3.5 GPA

Best Buy Scholarship

Available to students who have good academic records and have participated in commuity service activities

SC Law Enforcement Officers Foundation Scholarship (still researching for more info)

Awards range from $1000 to $10,000 ~ given to students attending a 2 or 4 year college in South Carolina

James F. Byrnes Scholarship

Applications can not be completed until after first semester. $3250 awarded to a student who has lost one or both parents. Student must be planning to pursue a 4 year degree, have a satisfactory academic record, demonstrate excellence in character and have financial need.

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship

$2500 award for a student who is a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, has a 2.5 GPA, has demonstrated leadership and community service

N. Edgar Miles Scholarship Program

Open to students who are SC residents and graduating in the top 25% or their high school class. Applications must demonstrate financial need, be enrolled on a full-time basis at a 4-year college. Awarded up to $4000 a year for 4 years.

Goat Island Boat Club Scholarship

$1500 merit scholarship to either a high school senior who will be attending a higher learning institution in the fall OR a student currently pursuing a degree in wildlife management, forestry, fisheries, marine biology, or other related field.  Robert (Robbie) C. Hodge Memorial Scholarship

Award amount $1000

  • Applicants must be a US Citizen;
  • A resident of Clarendon County, SC;
  • Attending high school in Clarendon County;
  • A current senior planning to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college or university

Students will be chosen based on ability to demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evident by outstanding achievement in school, community or workplace; and be recommended by an unrelated adult who can attest to students achievement.

Wendy's High School Heisman Award

The 2009 Wendy's High School Heisman application is now available at www.wendysheisman.com. Any eligible student can register and begin the application process.

 

We want to hear from all student athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for your school's underclassmen!

 

Eligibility for the application is limited exclusively to students who will be in their senior year of high school during the 2009-2010 acedemic year. They must have at least a "B" grade average and participate in at least one of the 28 school-sponsored sports listed in the Wendy's High School Heisman application.

 

The application submission deadline for students is 5:00 pm, central time, on October 1, 2009. Each applicant must have their completed application reviewed and confirmed online by a school representative. Reviewers have until 5:00 pm, central time, October 6, 2009, to complete their review. Please encourage your 2010 graduating class to go online, log in, and follow the instructions to begin.
