Kindergarten through fifth grade
A connected academic journey that nurtures curiosity, builds understanding, and gives children the confidence to take their next step.
Strong foundations. Growing independence.
From kindergarten through fifth grade, Lower School connects essential academic skills with curiosity, creativity, and Christian values. Across these years, children develop as readers, writers, problem solvers, and thoughtful members of their school community.
Letter sounds, phonics, handwriting, and early reading lay the groundwork for understanding and expressing ideas. As students grow, they explore fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama; build vocabulary and grammar skills; and learn to discuss texts, support ideas with evidence, and revise their writing.
Counting, patterns, shapes, and hands-on number work build toward operations, fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and data. Students use models and practical problems to make connections and explain their mathematical thinking.
Observation, questions, experiments, and projects help children explore living things, Earth and space, matter, energy, and motion. Social studies connects geography and map skills with South Carolina and American history, government, and citizenship.
Bible stories, scripture, and Christian values connect learning with character and care for others. Creative work, classroom discussion, hands-on activities, and field experiences give students meaningful ways to practice skills and share what they discover.
Manipulatives, sensory writing, novel studies, experiments, models, research, and presentations bring academic concepts to life throughout the Lower School journey.
